Up until a few months ago I would happily buy several varieties of smartprice biscuits knowing that I was buying a cheap, but reasonable product.

Since then it seems someone had the idea to change a few of them. For the mostpart, i think it was unnoticeable, however the bourbon creams suffered a dramatic drop in quality. Having binned the offending batch, i tried another to see if I'd caught a one-off, but these too were terrible. On my next visit, i tried the "chosen by you" version of the biscuits only to discover that although the package looked more attractive, the contents were indistinguishable from the cheaper ranged product.

I write to ask why was any change was ever made,  and why should you package one product in 2 different ways side by side?

You might recommend I return the offending products to the store for a refund but that's just not enough. The money wasted coming back and trying the biscuits again out of disbelief that they can't be that bad isn't what I'm worried about at all. Just change your bourbons back, please.

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about the product you bought from one of our stores.

I'm sorry the product wasn't up to our usual high standards.  I understand how disappointing it is to purchase an item that does not meet your expectations.

It's always disappointing to hear when a customer doesn't like one of our products, as we only deal with the most reputable suppliers to give our customers the best quality possible.

Please return the product packaging to the Customer Service Desk at your local store.  One of my colleagues will happily refund you.  We'll also use the packaging to work with our suppliers to find out what went wrong.  The details on the reverse of the packaging tell us where and when the product was made.  Without this, I'm afraid there is nothing we can do.

Thanks again for taking the time and trouble to contact us.  If I can be of any further assistance, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards

Nicola Burton

Having Received this obviously heavily copypasted reply, I thought it best to alter their advertising a little.

Sorry, but I really used to like those bourbons.
